Environmental Responsibility

At Happy Bodies®, our passion for wellness is inextricably linked to our passion for environmental stewardship.  The proliferation of environmental toxins over the last century threatens the health and well-being of people and our planet.  While our products are designed to support your body’s natural ability to eliminate toxins and cleanse itself, we also feel obligated to shine a light on this critical issue of environmental toxins and to do our small part to make the world a cleaner and healthier place.

Perhaps the most visible indication of our commitment to environmental sustainability is our choice of office space.  We are proud to be a tenant in Regeneration Park, a former commercial automotive facility that was thoughtfully repurposed as an eco-friendly office park.  The developer donated, recycled and repurposed much of the material that was removed during demolition and they have subsequently invested in low-impact building materials and cutting-edge energy technologies to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint.

Beyond our choice of office space, we are mindful of the ways in which our business activities impact the environment and strive to reduce such impacts whenever practical.  We have implemented a range of sustainable business practices that reflect our commitment to reduce environmental toxins:

  • A sourcing program that prioritizes recycled or repurposed materials and equipment whenever possible and practical.  For example, the majority of our office furniture was supplied by two environmentally-minded craftsmen who are committed to salvaging building materials that would otherwise find their way to landfills.  We cannot say enough great things about Urban Wood Goods of Chicago and Scott Osgood of Portsmouth, NH.  Our desks are constructed of wood that served as framing for a home that once stood on East First Street in Hinsdale, IL and our conference table gave new life to wood that was part of a tobacco drying barn in Maine.  Our product packaging is also thoughtfully selected to minimize size and weight, thereby reducing fossil fuel used in transportation.
  • A distributed fulfillment model, shipping product in bulk to regional distribution centers.  This model reduces the volume of packaging materials used and the total freight miles required to fulfill our customers’ orders.
  • A comprehensive recycling program that includes paper, cardboard, shipping containers, beverage containers, batteries, lightbulbs and electronic products.
  • The use of electronic communication and marketing to reduce the need for printed material and transportation services.

Environmental responsibility is a priority at Happy Bodies® and we welcome any questions or suggestions you may have regarding this important topic.
